Glory and Success

Glory and success are not a destination, they are a point of origin
– Chef Baglio

Bob Martin saw this quote and riffed on it in this blog post.

Bob takes it to mean that even after attaining glory and success, you’ve only just reached the beginning point and it is from there that you have to move on.

While Bob’s interpretation of the quote is a valid one, I think the quote should be interpreted differently.

Glory and success are not a destination, they are a point of origin.  Don’t strive for glory and success, instead, start with them.  Glory and success start with the individual.  If you believe you have glory and success, then you do, whether society validates your view or not.  By starting with glory and success you have confidence in yourself and you begin with a solid foundation that enables you to achieve ever more.

Hence glory and success are not a destination, they are a point of origin.
